On Wednesday, 3 September 2025, the Komati Power Station was abuzz with celebration as achievers from three transformative training programmes—Data Engineering, Mixed Farming, and Small-Scale Mining—were honoured in a vibrant certificate handover ceremony.
Hosted in partnership with Eskom, MQA (Mining Qualifications Authority), and Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development, the event marked the culmination of months of intensive learning, practical training, and personal growth. A total of 96 graduates were recognised:
- 60 from Small-Scale Farming
- 30 from Mixed Farming
- 7 from the Microsoft technology programme (Data Analysis and Data Engineering Associates)
Among the top achievers were:
- Tshepang Matela – Achieved a 96% distinction and is currently interning as a Power BI Developer at Phakamani Impact Capital, contributing to real-time dashboards for the Just Energy Transition project.
- Mashoto Matsepe – achieved 90% on the internationally recognised Microsoft Data Engineering Associate certification. With a background in tutoring and a passion for information management, she has also recently been onboarded at Eskom to gain workplace experience for the next 12 months.
Other graduates like Thabo Makutu, Nereez Rayters, Caleb Wee, Manqoba Msumba, and Sibusiso Masinga were also recognised for their achievements and unique career aspirations.
From Training to Transformation:
The technology programme, in particular, has already seen two graduates placed in internships, with more expected to follow. These placements are a testament to the programme’s alignment with real-world industry needs and its focus on certification, mentorship, and employability.
Looking Ahead:
As these graduates step into the next chapter of their journeys, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes. Whether entering the job market, launching businesses, or continuing their studies, they do so equipped with the tools, confidence, and networks to thrive.
“This is more than a graduation—it’s a launchpad for impact,” said Laura Sibiya – Hub Lead in Komati. “We are proud of every graduate and excited to see how they shape the future.”
